D:Sally/Madel: Kulturang Pinoy Quiz Wiz. Year 2 July 5, 2011
My daughter, RAIA JOON CATACUTAN, grade 5 student of Elizabeth Seton School Las Pinas Campus, was one of the 15 finalists yesterday. The question asked to her was about poverty. How to ease poverty in our country and give concrete examples. I find the question more of political and social relevance than that of our history, art and culture, which the competition/contest was about. Nevertheless, we (her parents, coach/trainer, and fellow participants from Seton)believe that Raia Joon was able to give a very good answer to the question by mentioning these – those who are jobless should start looking and applying for jobs and as a student, she will study hard for a better future. We know that with that kind of What is disappoint
We know that with a Q&A type, everything is subjective. All is dependent on what your 3 judges would love to hear. But after hearing all 15 finalists including our daughter, it is very disappointing to find out during the announcement of winners that she didn’t make it to the top 6. So sad to hear from our daughter that her precious 12 hours was just wasted. I really hope to hear from the Brown Movement regarding this. Attention Ms Chit Dela Torre.
Dear Mrs. Catacutan, based from my experience last year (well, I was one of the winners last year) We know that the questions are subjective yet it is based on the content probably and how much or how well do you know of the topic of the question as well as how you can relate it to the audience and I believe that how you project and deliver your answer is also something to consider. I believe that your daughter did a wonderful job during the finals and kudos to that. Maybe, you should just try hearing the side of the pannel of judges (which are professionals) and try to see if in the criteria for that part you lacked something.
-Respectfully Yours
Dear Ms. Dela Torre, I just want to ask if you are sending the result of their exams in figures to the participating schools? Hoping for your attention regarding to this question, thank you.
